.

The purpose of this blog is to give an overview of the sort of central and eastern European landscapes in which the early spread of Slavic-speaking commuities happened. Later on, when I get bored of posting pictures of birch and pines, grasslands and swamps, it is planned to do a bit of speculative modelling of what the settlement network which the archaeological evidence suggests may have looked like "on the ground".

At the moment though it is under construction, come back in November.

  1. Thank for your ecological summaries, Paul. I came to your blog while investigating nature reserves in Ida-Virumaa county, Estonia, and ultimately got there through my interest in Jacob Von Uexkull's work.
